Potsdam — thirty minutes from Berlin — is the city of Frederick the Great and his summer palace Sanssouci ("without care"), a UNESCO World Heritage complex of extraordinary beauty set in 700 hectares of park. The Sanssouci terraced vineyard, the Chinese Teahouse, and the Orangery Palace form one of Europe's great royal landscapes. The New Garden on the Heiliger See contains Cecilienhof Palace, where the Potsdam Agreement was signed in 1945.
